Application on Heavy Oil Production with ALS - PCP

Home / Application areas / Experiences

Main Needs Identified

  • High viscosity of produced fluids and low volumetric efficiency of PCP.
  • Long retention time at production facilities.
  • Low efficiency of heavy oil dehydration process.
  • Organic material precipitation and High consumption of diluents to transport.

Solution Development at Laboratory

It was designed the need SF – FL product according to the properties of WHA2 sample.

Basic Characterization WHA2
°API @60°F
13.5
BS&W [% v/v]
5.0
Viscosidad [cSt]
8791 @90°F

Results  –  Heavy Oil ALS - PCP

Emulsion Breakers

  • The results are given for a production system neither with diluents application or thermic treatment.
  • The viscosity is reduced from 8791 cSt to 4540 cSt with a percentage of reduction of 48%  @ 90°F.
  • Once the Fluidifier additive is applied the percentage of viscosity reduction after 96 hours is up to 30%
  • Higher percentage of free water applying lower concentration of emulsion breaker.
